Area Rugs - Removing Stains from Area Rugs

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Charlie Kaoud Watching a glass of wine spill over your favorite rug is a sight that’s best forgotten. However there’s no need to panic, most stains when treated quickly will disappear in no time. Some stains if left untreated can ruin your rug, but by following the advice given here, getting stains on your rug won’t seem so bad after all. Ready…Set…..Clean! When a rug has stained, the first thing you should do is clean it as fast as possible. The sooner you start working on a stain, the better chance you have of removing it and saving your rug. If the stain is liquid based use an absorbent cloth or paper towel and wipe up the stain as best you can. If it’s food or dirt, scrape the particles with an object such as a spoon, and than start wiping. Don’t actually rub the stain; instead blot at it so you don’t rub the stain deeper into the rug. With solid particles, using a vacuum cleaner is effective method of clearing the stain area. Wet It After absorbing as much as the stain as possible, the next step is to get a cold wet cloth and blot at the stain again. Do this until you are sure that no more of the stain will disappear. Use Cleaning Product The next step is to use a cleaning agent to get to the core of the stain. If you don’t have any products from the shop, you can use several household products like vinegar, detergent or nail polish remover. (Vinegar) Mix 1 part vinegar and 1 part water (Detergent) Use a non-bleach washing detergent mixed with water. (Nail Polish Remover) Use a non-oily type Wet It Again It’s a good idea to rinse the stain just incase there is residue from the cleaning product used. The Final Touch You last step is absorb any excess moisture. Use paper toweling or cloths and use a heavy object to weigh them down. Leave the weight overnight and in the morning, your carpet should look good as new. Good luck with your stain removing. By following the above guide your carpet should last you many years even if a few stains get in the way. Please remember to always test a tiny portion of your rug for color run before attempting any of the steps listed above. What is a Mobile Notary Public?

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Kent Pinkerton A mobile notary public is, in essence, a notary willing to travel to the location of the client, in order to fulfill his or her duties. These typically entail the witnessing of sensitive documents, overseeing their signing, identifying participants and administering oaths when necessary. A mobile notary public makes the process of notarizing documents a great deal easier for individuals or corporations to procure. Most often, mobile notaries are part of a centralized association known as the U.S. Mobile Notary Association. Here, a prospective client can contact them and seek out an individual available for traveling to his or her location. When a company becomes a member of the U.S. Mobile Notary Association, they are qualified to display the Certified Mobile Notary Public (CMNP) designation. Often, other companies will attempt to emulate this designation with other, similar-sounding names, but the CMNP is the official designation for a licensed mobile notary. For those seeking a mobile notary public in the State of Florida, the Florida Mobile Notary Association and Services, Inc. offers a centralized location to finding willing and able Florida notaries. Among the services offered by the Florida Mobile Notary Association are: Witnessing of legal documents
Administering of oaths
Remote document signings/loan closings
Fingerprinting services
Solemnized weddings (Florida is among the few states to offer this service from its certified notaries) Hiring a CMNP is essential for companies looking for services such as loan signing or notarized documents outside of regular business hours or locations. A CMNP will travel to the clients office or home on their schedule, and is trained to handle many types of documents including real estate, corporate, personal, custody, trusts and power of attorney. It is important to remember that a mobile notary is not licensed to practice law, prepare documents or provide any legal counsel. Their role is primarily that of an impartial witness to the signing of various documents and legal forms. To becoming a mobile notary public, one must follow several steps: Fill out an application, providing your name, address and other contact info. You will also answer questions regarding age, residency and any previous Notary commissions held. Application procedures vary from state to state. For more information regarding the application process, you can visit the National Notary Association website at http://www.nationalnotary.org.
Applicants are next required to pay a fee to the commissioning authority.
Applicants must then typically take an oath of office, which may be incorporated into the application or filed with a county clerk.
Once an individual is commissioned as a Notary in his or her state, they are eligible to join a licensed mobile notary association in their state. Typically a small monthly fee is required to retain membership. Notary Public Info provides detailed information about how to become a notary public, plus notary public classes, supplies, services locations, and more. Notary Public Info is the sister site of Paralegals Web. Beware The Summer BBQ!

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Tracie Johanson Now that it’s summer, it’s almost impossible to avoid the ever-popular summer BBQ. Some of our favorite meals are cooked over charcoal, but we still need to be aware that many of the traditional ’summer’ foods are packed with fat and calories! Isn’t it ironic that some of the ‘fattest’ foods make their debut in the summer when we’re all trying to fit into that bathing suit? So which traditional summer foods will break the belt? HOT DOGS. Although they’re small, the typical hot dog contains about 30% of your daily saturated fat intake! At about 180 calories each, hot dogs may seem quite harmless until we realize that 140 of those calories are from FAT. Don’t forget that the average hot dog bun has 110 calories, which boosts the total to 250 calories per hot dog. HAMBURGERS. Ground beef comes in all sorts of varieties, from ‘full-fat’ to ‘low-fat’. You’ll pay more for the low-fat version, but it’s worth it. The average hamburger has about 275 calories and 12 grams of fat (includes the bun). That’s slightly less fat than the hot dog, but more calories. “The secret to keeping the burger lean is to avoid the high fat toppings such as mayonnaise, bacon, cheese or sauces and instead, garnish simply with ketchup, mustard, tomatoes, onions and relishes” (Source: Ontario Cattlemen’s Association). Pile on the high-calories toppings and you’ll boost the calorie count to 800 or even higher!! POTATO CHIPS. A summer BBQ just wouldn’t be a BBQ without the chips! But while we’re enjoying the crunch, we’re putting on the pounds. Many brands of potato chips contain about 150 calories per serving. Doesn’t sound like much? Consider that what they call a ’serving’ is really one ounce…..11 chips. Here’s another way to look at it: each SINGLE potato chip provides a bit more than 1% of your daily recommended fat intake! So what’s a summer-BBQ-lovin’ person to do? Relax! There’s no need to avoid the fun this summer! By just making a few creative adjustments to the menu, we can enjoy the family picnic while keeping our diet under control. Try fruits, veggies and baked beans instead of chips. We all know the health benefits of eating more fruits and vegetables, so focus on those instead of full-fat potato chips. High in fiber and low in calories, these choices will help us feel full without putting on the pounds. Try a ground turkey patty instead of a hamburger. It will save you more than 100 calories, and it’s really not bad tasting! Be sure to look for SKINLESS ground turkey, which has far fewer calores than just ‘ground turkey’. Consider putting some boneless, skinless chicken breasts on the BBQ instead of beef. Lower in calories and fat, chicken breasts are a good choice for any event. Don’t forget about fish! The choices are almost endless, and the health benefits are overwhelming. Put some salmon on the BBQ and enjoy! “We recommend eating fish (particularly fatty fish) at least two times a week. Fish is a good source of protein and doesnt have the high saturated fat that fatty meat products do” (Source: www.americanheart.org). Finally, watch the drinks. High-calorie beverages like lemonade and Kool-Aid boast between 60 and 100 calories per glass, and sometimes even more. A single can of soda usually contains about 160 calories. Choose low-calorie drinks like iced tea (unsweetened) or just plain old water. With just a little effort, the summer BBQ doesn’t have to add inches or pounds! Choose healthy, low-fat and low-calorie foods instead of the traditional fare and keep those pounds off! Have a GREAT summer! * Copyright 2005 Pick Up The Pace. Are The Rumors About Sears’ Treadmills True or Not

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Bob Simons Unless youve begun an active search to purchase a treadmill, you may not realize the variety of treadmills that are for sale at Sears. Sears treadmills include the top brands like NordicTrack, Weslo, Horizon, Healthrider, ProForm and Image. Sears treadmills vary from the very economical to the professional high-end. The wide range of price options makes the treadmills for sale at Sears attractive to consumers who may be intimidated by sporting goods store prices. What Exactly do Sears Treadmills Offer? Starting off with a bang is the NordicTrack Professional Series 4000. This treadmill has patented DuraSoft cushioning for joint comfort and protection. It sports a 3.5 CHP, commercial-grade motor and the tread belt is an extra large 20 x 60 inches and promises quiet operation. This is the NordicTrack treadmill that holds a 7-inch flat screen TV for your viewing enjoyment. With the 15 pre-programmed workouts, 350-lbs. capacity and iFit compatibility, Sears offers this treadmill at just under $3100.00. Now, the Sears advantage here is that they can offer their treadmills for sale at a discounted price since they are such a large retailer. Out of all the Sears treadmills, the Weslo is the most affordable. This treadmill has a 2.00 drive system, extra cushioning and a 250-lbs. capacity. The Welso treadmills for sale at Sears cost about $199.00 Getting into the more mid-price ranged Sears treadmills are the Horizon and the Healthrider. The Horizon model is one of Sears treadmill exclusives. The Horizon has a 2.25-hp motor, a roomy 20 x 55 tread belt with gel cushioning. The Horizon treadmills for sale at Sears run around $1299. The Sears treadmills which offer basic durability are the Healthriders models. With a 2.0 CHP motor, the Healthrider Sears treadmills are priced in the $1000 range. The last two common brands of treadmills for sale at Sears are the ProForm and the Image. Now the ProForm model available at Sears is the more economical of their line. It still has a commercial drive system motor, shock absorption and an 8-year motor warranty. This treadmill at Sears cost about $699. The Image is the last economic option of the Sears treadmills. The tread belt is smaller than on a high-end treadmill, but it does have a 2.5 HP motor and a weight capacity of 275 lbs. Youll find these treadmills for sale at Sears price at around $499. Why Buy One of Sears Treadmills? For starters name recognition. Any of the Sears treadmills are backed by a huge retailer with hundreds of outlets all across the country. If problems occur with your new treadmill, not only can you go to the manufacturer, but Sears is most likely to be of assistance since they have the resources to do so. How many people have a sporting goods credit card? Not to advocate charging everything in site, but you can open a credit card account at Sears (or use your existing account) at a reasonable rate and purchase the exact treadmill you want and spread out your payments. Even if you have the cash, its nice to have the option to use your Sears credit. For more helpful information and research about Sears treadmills and Proform treadmills, then you should visit TopTreadmillMachines.com in order to find additional reviews on various exercise machines and top treadmill brands like Bowflex, Horizon, Proform, Welso and Smooth.

Marketing - Do People Really Care How Long You’ve Been in Business?

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Ugur Akinci Some marketing consultant talk about how you should always stress benefits, and never talk about features and how you should always focus on the customer, and never on the company. But is that always true? Of course not. For instance, the number of years youve been in business is a feature a fact about the company. Yet prospects care how long youve been in business — and your longevity can help close the sale. Why? Because in this world of fleeting connections and instant YouTube careers, experience and seniority counts a lot more than you can imagine. According to a recent NBC poll quoted by the copywriting guru Bob Bly, more than 70% of Americans are losing their trust in business. And as bad as that may sound for most businesses, companies that have been around a long time, with a track record of success, are suddenly at a tremendous advantage, says Stephen G. Fossler of Stephen Fossler Company, a printer specializing in corporate anniversary seals. Your years of customer satisfaction act to build trust in your company and give people a good reason to do business with you, Fossler explains. If you’ve been long enough in any business, I’d say there is no harm in letting people know about it without going overboard. I, for example, always briefly mention to my prospective clients that I’ve been a writer for over 20 years, since 1985, and I’ve been involved in many different writing projects from screenwriting to newspaper reporting. That information usually establishes an initial sense of trust and opens up new venues that would probably not be available to me if I were a journeyman writer just fresh off the college. ************************************************************************** Ugur Akinci, Ph.D. is a senior writer and web content consultant with 20 years of experience. Marking Your Territory

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Bonnie Jo Davis We all know the familiar adage “if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck…” it’s nearly always a duck. The same is true with image, particularly when it comes to the images we portray of ourselves as writers. My e-book “Articles That Sell”, teaches the how-to’s of effectively marketing your business by writing and publishing articles. These ideas will help you literally take your marketing act to the street by presenting yourself as a professional writer. A professional writer? Of course…the last image that you want to convey is that you’re an amateur. If you want to brand yourself and your business professionally, then you’ve got to conduct all your marketing efforts with the perspective of a skilled and accomplished pro. First, you’ll need to erase any stereotypical images of writers. They aren’t all philosophical types in glasses and black turtlenecks. Writers are real people, just like you. They come from all walks of life and have their own mortgages to pay. Very few writers are able to boast successful careers based only upon the words they have authored. In fact, most of the prominent writers we read today all have certain elements in common. What are the marks of a professional Writer? Business Cards - Does yours make any mention of the fact that you’re a writer? If it doesn’t, then you’re sending an alarming signal that you write as a hobby. Resume - Does yours note the names and dates of the publications that have featured your work? No listed works, no credibility. Portfolio - Do you have a beyond-your-hard-drive collection of the articles you have written? All writers should have a hands-on cd or floppy portfolio. If possible, you should also have a physical portfolio containing your work, particularly any work that has been published in print. Current Contact List or Database - Can you put your hands on a complete list of contact information? We’re not talking sticky-notes here. This should include the names, addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, and web site addresses of any publications to which you have submitted an article. Ideally, you should also include the contact information for any new publications about which you learn. Make certain to include the name of the article you have submitted and whether it was published. If you sold an article, list the price for which you sold it. Review your information regularly and follow-up with each publication periodically. Letterhead and Envelopes - Think it’s too expensive? If it’s a business expense then it’s tax deductible. While it’s true that editors are primarily interested in the content of your work, unprofessional correspondence sends up a red flag that you’re trying to break-in to writing. You probably have a software program on your computer that you can use to create an impressive letterhead for yourself. Visit your local office supply store to find a quality paper to print it. Editor - Now, we’re talking some real money, aren’t we? As I’ve said before in a previous ATSU Newsletter, there are affordable editors out there. You can even find one at a local college who might be willing to work for a nominal fee. If using a “for-pay” editor isn’t an option, you should at least have all your work proofed for grammar, spelling, and flow of content by someone who is qualified and is objective. It’s important that you be open-minded to constructive criticism. Library Card - Who has time to read? The best way to learn to better express our own thoughts and further develop our writing is through reading the thoughts of others. Ask anyone whom you consider to be a professional writer. That person will always tell you that they have either always been or have become an avid reader. In the area of reading, venture out and read beyond your normal scope of preferences. You’ll be amazed at how expanding your horizons can truly fine-tune your own writing skills. Success in marketing with articles is a reciprocating enterprise. The more you write and publish articles to market your business, the more exposure you will gain as an author. Presenting yourself as an across-the-board professional in your area of writing will propel your success even further. Maximize the mileage you can earn through your writing! Wisconsin Criminal Records

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

By Jennifer Bailey In recent years, the different state governments in the United States have made it a point to provide access to their citizens criminal records within their jurisdictions. In Wisconsin, this is true because in 2003, the Information Bureau of the state have given the public access to the state’s Criminal History Repository. This repository contains information on the arrests and convictions that happened in the state since 1971. Given the important role that criminal record searches can play especially in firms who want to check the background of their applicants, it is also important for people in Wisconsin to gain knowledge on how they can access the information they need. Below is a simple guide on how people can gain access to the criminal records in Wisconsin. How to gain access to criminal records in Wisconsin The main source of criminal records in Wisconsin is the state government, which gives the information through Wisconsin Record Check web site (http://wi-recordcheck.org/) wherein people can make requests for criminal records. In making the request, people are required to provide important information like the person’s legal name, his birth date, his address, and if possible, his social security number. After making the request, a small fee is charged for every individual that would be investigated. People and firms in Wisconsin are also given the option of creating an account with the Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau (CIB), which they can do so either by using their credit cards or by paying in cash, so that they can have easier access to criminal records by accessing their accounts online. In addition tot his, people are also given options on how they would like to receive the information. Usually, these choices include downloading and printing the information, receiving the information by mail, or by fax transmission. To be able to maximize the benefits that people can get out of conducting criminal record searches; individuals and firms need to have an understanding of the process of requesting for information in them. This is very important because each state in the country have very specific rules and procedures on how people can gain access to criminal records. In Wisconsin, this is very true, as the state also has very specific rule and procedures with regard to giving people access to the criminal records in the state. Criminal Records provides detailed information on Criminal Court Records, Criminal Records, Criminal Records Online, Criminal Records Search and more. Criminal Records is affiliated with Masters Degree In Criminal Justice. University Research Projects and Case Studies of the Franchising Model

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

By Lance Winslow It seems there is always a business college somewhere putting out industry data research. These research projects give the kids something to do and learn as they practice studying this industry or that. Often one political group or another to illustrate a point or in an attempt prove their side of an argument about a particular industry uses these reports. Sometimes governments, political groups or the industry, fund these projects themselves. Those who use such research or figures should immediately be called into question, as we all know figures lie and liars figure. But are all these kids really lying? No, generally they are doing the best they can with limited resources and lack of knowledge, as well as highly skewed data. In studying over 22 Industry sectors for the last 20-years in hopes of keeping my company at the forefront of the cleaning industry, I have seen my fair share of research which did not fit my actual knowledge of the industry as an insider or observations thru careful analysis. Recently a research student contacted me to send me a free copy of a research project they did on the Franchising Industry. Sounds great, as it is free right? Well, sure free is a good price indeed, yet the research student and college was in India and it was a study of the franchising Industry World Wide. Being deeply involved in the Industry and having wrote books on the subject, I respectfully declined my free copy noting; I appreciate your offer, really I do. Yet, I have experiences, observed and follow the trends, so I find it difficult to understand what information could come from academia that I would not already know. I find academia views of things to be quite skewed and non-understanding of reality. Do you have justification of why I would want your academia-jaded knowledge as perceived by someone who has never done it? Franchising I mean? Is this unfair of a comment to the academia world? It is better to make them feel all warm and fuzzy about their work and stay Politically Correct? Or is it better to save the trees to print it and the fuel to ship the research book, if you really do not want it? Additionally isnt it better to send a message to academia to stop putting out bogus crap or half-backed claims, which in turn are used by worthless politicians to make policy, effecting jobs, tax base, industry and our economic engine? Instead I asked; If you will send me a summary, I will review it and if appropriate, then I will be glad to post it on our website to help you alert the World about your research and book at my leading industry website Franchising.org Additionally I asked the question that everyone should ask when someone tells them that they have proof of their argument due to a study from academia; Can you convince me, why this information is worthy of note? I would be interested in our justification. Of course I got no reply and therefore I rest my case. Do not trust academia research on industry, any industry, unless you know the facts and can check their data. Think on this. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. A Botox Face Injection Will Ensure No Cloudy Days

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

By Terry Price An ophthalmologist-approved procedure, the botox injection has been safely used for over 10 years. It has been effectively used for wrinkle therapy since the early 1990’s with no serious side effects. Botox injection face will relax the muscles that create wrinkles, thereby lessening the appearance of laugh lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. If you’re considering a botox face injection, you will not be able to frown after it’s done, as the lines that are created by the action of frowning itself are eliminated! Over the years, your facial muscles produce wrinkles that are sometimes unwanted. There is a protein toxin produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria and botox injection eliminates this toxic build up. Just so you know, if you decide to have a botox face injection, botox is injected right into the muscles that are responsible for creating wrinkles. It is effective in deactivating the muscles that produce those wrinkles. Botox injection face usually lasts for three to six months and you then can return for a follow-up injection. After several face treatments, some doctors have reported that the injection lasts longer, often for several months. The most common complication is temporary drooping of the eyelids, but since the botox compound is used in extremely small amounts, it doesn’t spread throughout your body and you can usually return to full activity right away. Botox can be used on just about everyone from people who have neurological diseases, pregnant women and those who are breast-feeding. The injection causes only mild and temporary discomfort, and you may find mild swelling that usually subsides in 4 to 24 hours. Another cosmetic treatment that is in huge demand lately is the removal of unwanted facial and body hair. If you spend a bit of time surfing the web, you’ll be able to find some hair removal experts that should be able to refer you to a practitioner in your local area. Available in most civilized countries, permanent hair removal home canada, United States, Britain and South America is where the procedure is done most often. Of course, with the advent of technology, there are many incredibly new and exciting products on the market. You can find personal appliances that will do permanent hair removal very effectively, and will eliminate the necessity of visiting someone who specializes in this procedure. These appliances make it possible to permanently destroy the hair and any possibility for its regrowth. Laser hair removal cannot support the claim of permanent hair removal, and unless an expert applies the laser it can sometimes be a “hairy” experience! Electrolysis can be painful, and there’s never a good place on your body to insert a needle. There is usually redness and possible scarring that goes along with this procedure. With depilatories, shaving and waxing these are only band-aid approaches that you will need to keep doing over and over to see results. Spend some time and investigate the numerous options available to you for permanent hair removal home Canada. Whatever route you decide to take to look younger longer, there are always decisions to be made, Since botox injection face treatments usually last between two to four months. You’ll find that every three months is an appropriate time frame to have this done. A botox face injection is a safe procedure that is being applied more commonly every day, and if you are experiencing a large number of wrinkles on your face, you may want to seriously consider this procedure. Also, be aware that there are literally thousands of different creams on the market and all claim to be better than the other, so you’re advised to do some research on the internet and learn more for yourself about looking younger longer. Career: Are You In The Right Seat

Friday, December 14th, 2007

By CD Mohatta We all have a chair that designates a position in our career. For most of us the position, the responsibilities, the growth prospects and many such factors decide if we are happy in our seat? Sometimes, we may be unaware that another seat may send us much higher in the hierarchy and satisfaction level. Sometimes we are frustrated with our job for no easily identifiable reason. There are many such factors that determine if we are on the right seat. Let us examine some of them. Involvement How involved we are with what we do? Are we so engrossed with our job, that we have no time to think of anything else? Or we are so less connected with our job that having it or not makes no difference to us? Albert Einstein, the great scientist was so involved with his job of thinking and finding solutions to mysteries of physics and cosmos that he had no time left for anything else. His involvement was total. Do you have such an involvement? Joy Do we feel joy in what we do? I have taken this right near the top, because if we are dissatisfied for any reason, we will never get joy. If we get joy then most of things are going in the right direction. So think if you are getting joy in your job? Respect If you are working with the right people and doing the right job, you will always get the respect of your colleagues. If the respect is missing, please take that as a red signal telling you that something might be amiss. Skill Do you find your skills and aptitude matching the job requirements? You might be made for greater things in life. Please get your skills assessed and find out if you are wasting time with a low skilled job, when you should have been working with something requiring great skills and abilities. There are other factors such as vision for the job, future growth potential, learning opportunities and such other factors that decide if you are on the right seat. The right person for the right job - are you the right person for your job and more importantly, is the job right for you? I have given some pointers for thought. Ultimately, it is your life goals and values that will always decide if the job fits you. That can be done only by you. What is most important is that you review your job and your satisfaction level at frequent intervals and bring changes to create a more meaningful life.
