The fees for the marriage license is $40.00 and most counties will only take cash. You do not have to take any blood tests before receiving the marriage license. There are no proxy marriages. California does allow cousin marriages. There are no common law marriages. Their are no same sex marriages but Domestic Partnership Certificates are available in San Francisco. Any priest, minister, or rabbi of any religious denomination, of the age of 18 years or over may perform marriages. Ministers must complete the marriage license and return it to the county clerk within 4 days after the marriage. The license is only valid in the state of California only and for 90 days.
