Class Notes - October 2016

Class of 1964

Michael Stevens '63, writes from Northampton, MA - After perhaps being the only(?) individual to have enjoyed TWO senior years at Wooster, I find I still surprise myself with the artwork I have produced and continue to produce. That, and of course, my partner of 49 years, are sustaining factors in spite of a laundry list of events that have tested my fortitude. I consider myself proud to be an alumnus of a school, that despite my less than ideal experience there, is a school that was, and is, innovative, cherished, and enduring.

Class of 1968

Mark Boardman '68 of Oxford, Ohio has written 2 books since his 2015 retirement after teaching Environmental Science 34 years at Miami University, Ohio. They are titled; Birds of San Salvador, Bahamas and Coral Reef Fishes: Common Fish of the Caribbean. Mark also serves on two boards for the Three Valley Conservation Trust and the University of the Virgin Islands Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR).

Class of 1972

Susan Goodman '72 reports that she has left the East Coast. After being widowed in 2013, she relocated to San Francisco in 2015. Her new address can be found in the directory.

Class of 1994

Phoenix, Arizona’s Grand Canyon University Director of Sports Medicine, Geordie Hackett '94, is managing an expansion of the school’s sports medicine facility to include advanced features such as a hydrotherapy room, cryotherapy, underwater treadmills and more. Geordie uses advanced medical practices, such as Fusionetics, a human performance system that utilizes a series of tests to record the functions of an individual’s body. The NCAA Division 1 athletic programs use the technology to focus on the athlete’s needs for improved recovery, optimized performance and injury preventions. This allows athletes to efficiently pinpoint their greatest areas of need.

Class of 2001

Continuing in her great-grandfather's steps, Abigail Coburn, founded a school in San Francisco, CA. Golden Bridges School brings the Wooster values of community, self-help, self-discovery and teaching to the whole being to urban families through outdoor education and Waldorf pedagogy.

Class of 2005

Katy Clarkson Thompson '05 is happy to announce the birth of twin girls - Athena Ann and Moira Elizabeth, born on August 10, 2016. The family lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
