Wooster Community Service Programs
Lower School
Service to the community is a theme that runs through weekly chapel discussions. As children grow spiritually and their view of the world expands beyond their own interests, they cultivate the desire and responsibility to serve others. Each class completes a community service project during the course of the year and shares the experience with other classes.
Middle School
Middle School students are encouraged to participate in volunteer activities in the community, or in on-campus opportunities open to middle school students during the year. It is also encouraged for parents and students to volunteer together!
Upper School
Upper School students are required to complete 100 hours (or 25 hours per year of attendance) of community service before beginning their Senior Independent Study (SIS) in the spring of their senior year. They are encouraged to seek independent volunteer opportunities throughout their four years. All upper school students are expected to submit their hours via a Google Sheet with the following headings: Dates of Service; Hours Completed; Organization Name and brief description of work completed; and a contact person with phone/email for verification to the Director of the Center for Social Impact via email.
