SIS Check-Ins
Posted 05/17/2019 02:39PM

The Wooster campus has been relatively quiet lately in the days following Senior Send Off. This is due to all of our seniors being on SIS (Senior Independent Study). This is a chance for them to spend five weeks doing an independent activity of their choice. Their whole experience stays rather mysterious until their presentations in June, so I wanted to check in with some of our seniors to see what they've been up to.

Last week I started checking in with some seniors about their Senior Independent Studies. This week I decided to check in with another group of seniors: Mimi, Ben, Tyler and Andrew, who are building a hotdog cart! Mimi answered the questions for the group about this interesting project.

What does your day look like?

Mimi: Every day we go over to Andrew's house to work on the hotdog cart. Our day usually consists of a lot of cutting and screwing and planning, and obviously a good lunch break.

What is the best part of your SIS?

Mimi: I think the best part is just spending time with all the guys. It's weird to be out of school so having people around makes SIS more fun and less abnormal.

What's challenging about it?

Mimi: A couple of challenges have come up in terms of planning our cart and how different dimensions should look but we had a lot of help thanks to this random guy on YouTube who is also building a hotdog cart and he seems to know his stuff.

Any other fun bits of information or things you've learned thus far?

Mimi: A fun tidbit would be that Ben is actually pretty good at woodworking. Who would have known?

Check in next week for some more check-ins with more seniors!
