Serendipity or Synchronicity?
Posted 11/20/2020 01:58PM

There are so many moments in life that surprise us into thinking that there are coincidences. As you know, I like to think everything happens for a reason and anything that seems coincidental is actually on purpose. I want to share some experiences I have seen/had where this happens...

  1. Receiving a phone call:Technology Helpline Available Now - Waco Elementary

I was having a casual conversation with my mom about Thanksgiving, my siblings, and honestly random topics. Specifically, we were talking about my brother. We were in the car, on our way home. The instant we walked in the door, my brother called my mom. She answered with, "I was just talking about you..." Another example has the same idea. My mom was talking about her friend, wondering if she should call him. Minutes later after she said this, he called and said it was an accident. This happened another time to her. She was trying to finish up working for the day, and we were running late for something. I was doing my own thing; I heard her say, "What are the odds this person will call me when we leave?" "This person" being someone from work. As I was wrapping up my work, the person called her. It seems like this happens to her a lot, and we always joke about it. She always attracts the person's attention when she thinks and talks about them.

  1. Watching something, then someone else randomly talks about it

I know it's not the winter holiday season yet, but the other day I watched Home Alone. The day after I did, I was watching YouTube. The video I was watching was about a video game, but somehow the YouTuber started talking about Home Alone. I stopped the video and sat there thinking, "How?" It would seem more "coincidental" if it was December, and closer to when people watched holiday movies. It's not even Thanksgiving. For her to talk about the movie I just watched was actually really weird.

On a different day, I was talking to my sister about what? I don't even remember, but she started singing a theme song to a show I was just watching. I said to her, "I was just watching that!" She replied, "Me too!"

  1. Thinking of a song and then it playsprintable images musical notes | Universal PLS4.60 60W laser w/Rotary | Song notes, Music notes, Printable image

I was listening to a music playlist and thinking to myself about a song I wanted to hear next. I didn't see the next song on the playlist and the next song that played was the one I was thinking of.

A friend told me of when she'll be listening to a song that reminds her of a certain person and out of the blue that person texts her.

  1. Wanting to see a specific color something and you see itVintage Pink Car In Old Havana (Cuba). Stock Photo, Picture And Royalty Free Image. Image 97916767.

On a long car ride, my mom and I "guessed" what color cars we would see. I said, "I want to see a pink car." She then said, "That will be rare..." We went about our drive and day. At the end of the day when we were at dinner, we walked out of the restaurant and saw a parked pink car.

  1. Needing something good to happen and surprise!

My friend told me recently that she was having a really rough day. She wanted to meditate to bring some good energy into her day, hoping it would help her out of the funk. When she was done meditating, she received amazing results. She got an email from a college she applied to. She got in!

I love hearing and experiencing coincidences like these. Any instance where I feel something crazy or magical is happening merely because two things line up is really interesting. Any of these could just be serendipity, but isn't it more fun to think that everything is aligned just the right way? It's something to think about...
