Flavored Water

Flavored water is something enjoyed by many year round. With endless recipes and types, you can find the perfect mixture for you with one google search. As most know, adding different ingredients to your water has many benefits such as added nutrients, better immune system, boost of energy, and motivation to drink water. These are all important at maintaining a healthy hydrated body.

Among all these benefits it is important to notice the few disadvantages; one being store bought flavored water. Too often these tasty products do more harm than good. It is very regular that a seemingly "healthy" and natural product is filled with sugar, artificial sweetener and coloring, preservatives and more. From this, making your own flavored water where you can ensure natural and still tasty ingredients is optimal when talking about flavored water.

Some easy and beneficial ingredients to add to your water are:

  • Lemons

Lemons provide a refreshing taste to your water. They help to stimulate liver function, strengthen veins, fight high blood pressure, as well as use its high levels of citric acid and vitamin C to boost your immune system. Overall, lemon is a great and easy way to add a new flavor to your water.

  • Cucumbers

Like lemons, cucumbers also provide a refreshing taste. They are naturally able to add a coolness to your drink. They can act as an antioxidant as well as an anti inflammatory. (When adding cucumbers to water, make sure you peel the cucumber before to remove any toxins from the outer surface.)

  • Mint

Mint leaves are a great way to add a kick to your water. They have been proven to stop colitis (chronic digestive disease) as well as IBS.

You can also add all different kinds of spices and fruits to your water depending on what you like such as jalepeño, ginger, watermelon, strawberry, cherry, blueberry (etc.) You can also mix and match. One very popular recipe is raspberry, lemon, and mint. Overall, there are many ways you can add different flavors to your water in a natural way. I highly suggest you find a few ingredients in your fridge and create a new, tasty, unique flavored water recipe to enjoy.
