This past Friday the boys soccer team traveled down to Westport to play Greens Farms Academy. For the first hour of the game, it was 0-0. We had a few chances to score, but missed out on some critical opportunities. The last 30 minutes of the game were very eventful with both teams combining for seven goals. After going down 3-1, with the first goal from senior captain Parker Etzbach, with ten minutes left it was seeming like a comeback would be impossible. In the span of about five minutes senior captain Joey Everett hit an absolute rocket from almost half field and hit top corner. Then freshmen Vega Farro was able to finish on a tap-in to tie the game up. However with less than two minutes left we were not able to control the ball and the opposition scored with a minute left and won the game. This was definitely not one of our best games, but we knew we had to bounce back.
Then this past Wednesday we did indeed bounce back against EF Academy at home. Our starters were able to come out and put the game away quickly. Parker Etzbach absolutely dominated the game with a double hat trick. To be completely honest I lost track of the score, but I think we finished the game with 8 goals. Since the starters did their job early, the nonstarters were able to see some extended minutes. Freshman Ryan Vincent got the chance to hop in goal and played really well.
Our next game is home on Homecoming (tomorrow) at 2:45 on the turf against Williams school as we continue to try and lock the #1 seed for HVAL's. See you there!
