Family History Project Potluck Dinner

Over the past few months, the 8th grade has been working hard on the Family History Project. The purpose of this project is to learn about your family's history and heritage and to create a physical object, a scrapbook, to pass on to your children and grandchildren. After we completed this project, Wooster hosted a potluck dinner on Wednesday, May 22nd with different family recipes.

In the scrapbook, we had to include an introduction, table of contents, dedication, family tree, coat of arms, family tradition, country report, family recipe, two interviews, a personal memoir, and pictures from our D.C. trip earlier this month. We had a month to work on these scrapbooks, and they were on display in the cafe on Wednesday night.

Each parent signed up to make a dish that is special to their family or culture. Some examples of the foods made were challah stuffing, stuffed grape leaves, homemade mac n' cheese, roasted vegetable hummus, and sweet potato mash. For dessert, we had homemade cakes, cookies, scones, pastries, and everything in between. It was a great experience for Wooster families to see and try many different dishes from various countries, most people trying things they had never before.

Parents were able to look at the books, and students admired their peers' work. It was a great night for all families filled with lots of good food, friends, and fun!
