Donate Plastic Bags to Benefit The Green Sleep Project

While walking to your classes, you may have noticed posters for the bag drive. Last Friday, blue bags were put out, marked by signs, in which plastic bags can be dropped off. The bag drive is being held to support The Green Sleep Project, an initiative I started in 8th grade.

The Green Sleep Project aims at preventing plastic pollution in bodies of water. We collect used grocery plastic bags and turn them into portable sleeping mats for the homeless (before they can make their way into the ocean and harm marine life). The Green Sleep Project has partnered up with a local homeless shelter in Danbury, CT to donate the mats.

Buildings in which a blue collection bag has been placed :

1. Library

2. Science Building

3. Coburn

4. Middle School

5. (Near) Alumni Gym

6. Wellington

Please bring in lightly used plastic shopping bags (especially grocery bags). Plastic bags with tiny holes are acceptable. Before dropping them off, check your bags to make sure that they are clean and do not have any visible residue on them. Plastic bags will be accepted till March 6th, which is only about two weeks from now! Bring in as many plastic bags as you can.

Best,

Isha Patel
