Student Leaders of the EJC have curated several opportunities for service learning, volunteerism, internship, education, social connection and more -- all with a social justice and equity lens. We hope that you find something that you can get involved with during the summer.

  • MoCA Westport All 4 Drag and Drag for All: 06/04 5:30pm. -8:30pm ($30 Adults/ $15 Students) Epic family friendly drag experience at MoCA Westport. The show includes performances and discussions with four amazing entertainers including Desmond Napoles (stage name: Desmond is Amazing) is a 15-year old drag kid, award-winning LGBTQ advocate, outspoken unapologetic gay youth, performer, model, public speaker, founder of their own drag house, fashion designer, and voguer from New York City.   • Triangle Community Center (Norwalk): Pride in the Park: 06/11 12:00pm-2:00pm.
  • 2022 National LGBT+ Youth Tech Summer Camp (14-19yrs) Free 2-week virtual camp for LGBT+ youth ages 14-19, located anywhere in the US. Learn coding and digital art with other youth seeking community!

  • Bridgeport Library Presentation: History of Juneteenth with Karima A. Robinson - 06/15. 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
  • Western Conn State University (WCSU) Juneteenth Celebration. 06/19 12:00pm-5:00pm at (Midtown Campus on 181 White Street) "Honoring our Heritage: Forging the Future". In an effort to recognize and celebrate the rich history of this holiday and to highlight the extraordinary contributions made by African Americans to the community.
  • CT Food Bank Volunteers will organize and build food boxes for seniors. Children ages 12-15 must volunteer with an adult/guardian; ages 16 and over can come on their own.
  • Become an #ICANHELP Volunteer. As an #ICANHELP volunteer, you'll help create new content and campaigns to support students and teachers. Challenge yourself and learn important skills while building new friendships with volunteers from around the world!

  • 2022 Summer Tech Youth Internship Camp (14-19 yrs). 2-weeks camp for 14-19 yrs. Build your tech competencies and tech job readiness skills. Explore tech careers, meet LGBT+ Tech professionals in the industry. No prior coding experience needed.
  • iCivics 10-month paid fellowship for rising 9th-12th graders (detailed overview)
  • Fresh Air Fund Summer Teen Academy: Specialized programs offer opportunities for teens, ages 13-17, to earn credentials, have internships and gain critical work experience. Workshops include developing leadership skills, career exploration, college readiness and more! Job Readiness, Internship and Credentialing programs offer stipends ranging from $500 – $1,000 depending on the time commitment required. The credentialing programs will meet virtually primarily, with some in-person opportunities, and range from three weeks to seven weeks.
  • Danbury Youth Services Summer Employment: 6-week work program for youth ages 14–21 who are looking for first-time work experience, or opportunities in which they may get diverse experiences.
  • Capital Region Institute for Human Rights Virtual Summit (virtual): 06/27- 06/29 9:00am-1:00 pm. Open to 9th - graduating seniors. Tuition: $75.00. For those who are interested in history, social justice, current events, and international relations. Provide participants with a deeper understanding of human rights history and humanitarian issues today and inspire them to have a positive impact on the world.
  • Academy of Human Rights' Summer workshop: 07/11-07/15. ERIE 1 BOCES CENTER, WEST SENECA, NY. Learn about hot button topics from local and international experts. Students will also be joined by artists, poets, musicians and social entrepreneurs that will teach them how they can channel activism to make a difference.
