Being my last WiNK addition this year, I wanted to go back to one of the first things I did. I wanted to interview a teacher about this year, and I figured what better teacher to interview than Mr. Kendis, who will be leaving Wooster after the school year ends (but not before going on one last college trip with Upper School students).

Mr. Kendis has worked at Wooster since the 2018-19 school year as the Director of College Guidance. However, after this year he will be going to Bolivia with his wife and two kids, for at least two years. When he was younger, Mr. Kendis and his wife served in the Peace Corps. There they learned about, "how powerful it is to see the world from another perspective."

When reflecting on his experience at Wooster, Mr. Kendis mentioned that one of the things he will miss most is the community. While at Wooster, Mr. Kendis learned many things; one of these being the power of relationships in education. He mentioned sitting down at tables during lunch with both students and faculty, "it's such a wonderful part of the experience."

When looking back on his Wooster career,Mr. Kendis wanted to share, "enjoy yourself, and make sure that you are focused on growth over destinations...appreciate the opportunities in the community that you have. Put yourself in situations where you're outside your comfort zone because those are really great chances to learn."

We are all sad to see Mr. Kendis leave, but we wish him peace and joy wherever he goes next.
