Introducing the Health Corner for the Medical Science Club
Posted 01/22/2021 02:49PM

Welcome to WiNK's Health Corner for the Medical Science Club! One of the missions of this club is to raise awareness on different medical conditions, with an emphasis on invisible illnesses. All medical conditions affect peoples' daily lives. However, it is especially hard to live with an invisible illness because although it may look like an individual is perfectly healthy, they may be dealing with a lot of symptoms that aren't visible to the naked eye. Another mission of the Medical Science Club is to normalize talking about one's medical condition. A lot of the people around us are struggling with some medical condition yet they hide it in fear that they will be judged because of it. One's medical conditions can not be controlled and one should not be embarrassed about it either. Eliminating the fear associated with talking about one's personal medical conditions is another important goal of this club.

Every month, the Medical Science Club chooses a new medical condition to learn about. To help raise awareness for various medical conditions, the club members research, discuss, and present on different topics relating to the overall medical condition that the club is talking about for that month. Furthermore, Izzy, the president of the Medical Science Club, is also the designated person for the (Dis)ability section of the Equity, Justice, and Inclusion Committee. The club and committee work hard together to ensure a safe, happy, informative, and inclusive community on campus for all members, especially for those with medical conditions.

The Medical Science Club will be contributing to WiNK once a month with articles and presentations on the topics that were discussed. We hope you enjoy our literary and visual works and we hope that they broaden your medical knowledge!
