Trout Release into the Brook
Posted 04/27/2018 12:42PM

Wooster students have completed another season of Trout in the Classroom. Our 7th grade students have been raising Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) in science class since November in collaboration with the Housatonic Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. These trout have recently been released into Miry Brook here on campus!

The trout project has been a wonderful bridge to our project based Life Science curriculum here at Wooster. Our 7th grade ecology unit focuses primarily on the natural environments around campus and their inhabitants as they have faced ongoing changes over the past years. In addition to the trout project, students have studied vegetation, macro-organisms, and the importance of watershed such as our own Miry Brook.
