Wooster School Establishes Teaching Fellowship Program
Posted 01/28/2022 01:48PM

Wooster School is excited to announce the establishment of a Teaching Fellowship Program with an emphasis on contributing to efforts to prepare more college graduates of color for roles as teachers in independent schools. Of particular interest are recent college graduates of color from our local geographic area who feel the call to teach.

Teaching Fellows will be expected to commit to a full-time role in the two-year program, which includes preparation for and teaching of 2-3 classes per trimester under the supervision of a mentor teacher, participation in Wooster's Teacher Learning Program, and additional responsibilities such as coaching, club supervision, and tutoring. Teaching Fellows will also have the opportunity to enroll in the Mount Holyoke College Independent School Teaching Fellows program and be awarded a Master's Degree (MAT) from Mount Holyoke's Teacher Leadership Program, at no cost to the fellow.

Wooster School Teaching Fellows will be paid a $30,000 per year stipend for each year in the program and receive full health benefits through Wooster School's benefits plan. Fellows will be expected to work for Wooster School's typical teacher school year, with additional summer work for those who choose to pursue their Master's degree. A more comprehensive job description can be found on the Wooster School website.

While open to candidates interested in all academic disciplines in either the Middle or Upper Schools, for the cohort starting in the 2022-23 school year, Wooster is particularly interested in teachers of Spanish and Mathematics. Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume to Parvin Taraz, Wooster School Director of Curriculum, at parvin.taraz@woosterschool.org.
