College Guidance

Our purpose is to provide individualized, deliberate, student-focused support to help students enroll in a great-fit college where they will be challenged, will grow, and will thrive.

Some of the ways we accomplish this are by:

  • Providing family and one-on-one counseling as well as curriculum-based seminar courses for our students.
  • Guiding students and families in creating a list of schools that will fit the student's unique talents and interests and that will be a great fit academically, socially, and financially.
  • Advising students and parents on standardized testing, college essays, the application process, interviews, college visits, and financial aid.
  • Working closely with and assisting seniors as they complete their essays and applications, ensuring they meet all deadlines and submit top-notch applications.
  • Hosting over 100 college and university representatives on campus to meet with students and to learn about Wooster's unique and engaging community.

Senior College Application Workshop

Wooster has built and refined our college guidance process over the years to help each student reflect on what matters to them, to understand the college landscape, and to, ultimately, match to a great fit college. Our approach has been designed to: encourage reflection; minimize stress; put students as well as parents ahead of deadlines; teach transferable skills that will help in applying to grad school, med school, study abroad, internships and jobs; and maximize results by helping students have outstanding applications.

Annual College Fair

During the first half of the college fair, juniors engage in one-on-one mock interviews with designated college representatives. This initial evaluative experience provides an opportunity for students to converse, briefly, about their academic journey and extracurricular activities, and receive constructive feedback and helpful tips on their interviewing skills.

The second half of the event is an open college fair. Students have the opportunity to visit with representatives and learn about all the wonderful courses and programs each college has to offer.

College Acceptances

Through the years, our graduates attend an impressive and diverse list of colleges and universities! Take a look at where our alumni have been accepted through the past five years.
