Welcome to Wooster School's athletic training web page. This page is developed and maintained by Ron Hutchins, Wooster's certified athletic trainer. Please check back often, as it is my hope to share, spread, and update information concerning athletic health care and performance enhancement.
The State of Connecticut is now regulating the profession of athletic training through a licensing process. This new legislation will help to protect the public by making certain that a person practicing athletic training is certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and has been granted a license by the state. This will ensure that all professionals who use the term "athletic trainer" have gone through the rigorous academic preparation and testing necessary in order to sit and successfully pass the NATABOC exam.

What is an Athletic Trainer?
The Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) is a highly educated and skilled allied health care professional. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports, and corporate wellness settings.
AT's have, at minimum, a bachelor's degree, usually in athletic training, health, physical education, or exercise science. In addition, athletic trainers study human anatomy, human psychology/counseling. AT's also participate in routine continuing education in order to maintain their credential.
