Claire Simard - Coordinator of Performing Arts
Claire grew up in Norwich, CT, the oldest of five children in a musical family. She studied voice at the Catholic University of America, where she performed at the Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and also was the accompanist for the musical theatre department. After graduating with her Bachelors in Music, she performed in off-Broadway and regional theatre productions, notably, the D.C. premiere of Stephen Sondheim's Follies at the Tony-Award-Winning Signature Theatre. Claire spent two years living in Paris, studying French language and opera, and moved back to the States where she sang with NY opera companies and taught private voice and musical theatre classes at Concordia Conservatory. Claire began teaching music at Wooster in 2012. Claire lives in Redding with her husband Nick, and their children Amelie and Gabriel. She sings all the time, and her hobby is learning to play new musical instruments.
